The orientation of GMU’s CAPH is to provide individuals at the local level with resources and information so they may promote traffic safety in their setting in the most appropriate manner. Through the resources on this site, including links to other resources, local personnel can directly adopt, adapt, or create materials and messages to promote a safer locality. Some materials and resources helpful to this are included in this section.
COMMUNICATIONS RESOURCES FOR TRAFFIC SAFETY The Traffic Safety Communications Kit, funded by the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles, was developed by the Center for the Advancment of Public Health at George Mason University. The Kit was designed in response to several field interviews of law enforcement personnel across the state. While most of the law enforcement agencies expressed a desire to do more in the area of traffic safety education, many lacked the resources or time to develop campaigns of their own. As a result, the staff at the Center for the Advancement of Public Health developed this Communications Kit for law enforcement agencies to use to assemble safety campaigns that meet their local needs at any given time.
